I am very excited to share the work of yet another fantastic designer on the blog today and I’m even more happy that it comes in the form of this gorgeous, colourful and intricate wallpaper…it is Wednesday after all. Catalina Estrada is a Colombian illustrator who has been based in Barcelona since 1999. She reinterprets Latin American folklore in her work in the most beautiful and intriguing way. The visual language that she uses in her work is not only impressive and cheerful, but is also infectiously optimistic. She uses thousands of colours and many of her designs feature nature as she says that flora and fauna are her main source of inspiration.
Her cheerful, bright and emotive work has attracted the attention of many big brands and organizations who have worked with Catalina in the past including Paul Smith, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Camper, Nike, Levis, Smart / Mercedes Benz, Paulo Coelho, Unicef, the municipalities of Barcelona and London, and the Government of India, to name but a few.
And I am sure you will be happy to hear that Catalina doesn’t just do wallpaper. Her product range also includes bed linen, cushions, handbags and travel goods, umbrellas, school products, and many others. So if wallpaper isn’t your bag (although I very much doubt that) you will certainly be able to find something that will appeal in Catalina’s portfolio. So let me know what you think. Has this brightened your day? Which one is your favourite? I’d love to know.
