Claire Coles produces the most beautiful wallpaper I think I have ever seen. I came across her work a few months ago but I just haven’t had the time to blog about it until now…shame on me!
Claire’s couture wallpapers are more than just wallcoverings though. They transform walls into individual works of art. She uses fragments of hand-sourced vintage wallpapers, which she layers and intricately embroiders with silks and leather to create a range of patterns and scenes.
Working from her West London show room, Claire designs and produces bespoke embroidered wallpapers for private clients and commercial projects. All wallpapers are designed and handmade in house. All of her luxury wallpapers are made to order and designed specifically for the client’s space.
Upon graduating from Middlesex University in 2003 with a first class honours in Applied Arts, Claire’s first commissions included a wallpaper display for Liberty of London and a book cover design for Penguin Publishing.
Alongside her luxury collection of wallpapers, Claire designs imagery for the gift market. In 2008 she launched a range of gift cards which are sold through Paperchase and independent stores. She also sells embroidered wallpaper artwork, mugs and brooches.
