Well, I’m still obsessed with gardens, and weirdly summer seems to be going quite slowly this year, so with any luck we should get our decking done before it’s over (fingers firmly crossed). The frame is built but we’ve had a short delay as we’re working with a company who will be supplying us with some balustrade that we can put on the deck to make it safe. It’s quite high at one end due to the garden being sloped so we need a balustrade to minimise the risk of the girls simply toppling off the edge. So I’m still dreaming of the finished look and today I’m sharing some gorgeous products with you from the East London Parasol Company.
Founded by Lucy Ferguson in 2015 and launched in 2016, the East London Parasol Company stocks a range of flamboyant parasols made in India and Indonesia. Lucy was inspired to start her own business having seen the decorative parasols that are used in religious ceremonies whilst she herself was living in Kerala, southern India. Upon her return to London she continued to use her colourful flamboyant parasols and decided to set up shop selling them herself. Her parasols are made by local artisans and blend traditional techniques from India and Bali with contemporary design, to produce something truly unique.
Almost every part of every canopy is handmade in Kerala by the temple umbrella makers using taffetas, hand block prints and antique Rajasthani textiles. Whilst these parasols are a little more decadent and flamboyant than my usual style, I think that summer is definitely a great excuse to really push the boat out and experiment with something a little more exciting and adventurous. I think these flamboyant parasols would definitely be a talking point at any al fresco event.
This year Lucy has added matching cushions, table cloths and napkins to her range, all of which have been hand block printed on the highest quality cottons. They are all designed to perfectly complement the parasols and add an ornamental touch to any outdoor scene. I really like how bright and bold they are actually and they look fab in the garden.
What do you guys think? The perfect way to jazz up the garden this summer? I think so!
Love these parasols
