Having lived in many small apartments and flats in my time, I know all too well how hard it can be to keep small dwellings tidy and free from clutter.
In 2003, I was living in a tiny little chambre de bonne in Rue De Lille in Paris’ elegant 7th Arrondissement. Situated just a stones throw from the Musée d’Orsay and just across the Seine from the Jardin des Tuileries and the Musée du Louvre, my teeny weeny little apartment was a measly 10m² and had a sloping ceiling that went right from the floor on one side of the room to the ceiling on the other. Good job I’m only 5ft2!
In this diminutive little French chambre was not only my bedroom, my livingroom and my kitchen but also my shower. So as you can imagine it was a little cramped to say the least. Now this is an extreme example of a confined living space, but nonetheless when there isn’t much room in your home, space-saving designs can be invaluable.
That’s why I love this bespoke free-standing kitchenette by Culshaw Bell. Made in natural oak and hand painted, this compact piece of free-standing kitchen furniture includes integrated sink, taps, microwave, fridge, induction hob and granite.
Fortunately, I’ve just moved into a nice big spacious 3 bedroom cottage in Devon so such space-saving solutions no longer carry so much importance for me. If I did ever end up living in a small apartment again, this kitchen would be top of my wish list.
This is an attractive piece of furniture and neatly includes the whole kitchen. I would be annoyed by the doors up top however, they take up too much space when open.
This is very true Yasmin, I guess for the sake of convenience you would probably want them open most of the time and they would get in the way. I don;t think I would be disciplined enough to close up my kitchen after I use it each time. But then if you live in such a small space you have to be more conscious of cleaning up after yourself.
