French Connection Home AW 2012 Collection

Grey is one of my absolute favourite colours for interior design schemes at the moment. It is so serene and calming and it goes so well with so many other colours. Despite the potentially negative psychological effects of grey, I find that its use in interiors really resonates with me personally and for me it’s actually very comforting. Whilst it can have quite an industrial, cold feel to it, I also tend to associate it quite a bit with a Nordic aesthetic which brings a real feeling of warmth and cosiness to the colour removing any hard edges for me.

As soon as I saw these gorgeous styled shots from French Connection I fell hard. The first Autumn/Winter collection follows on from the success of the Spring/Summer range that launched earlier this year. The expanded product offering of the Home Collection has a strong focus on occasional furniture, lighting and gifting with the carefully designed and edited pieces feature clean and simple detailing. The neutral, muted colour palette includes shades of white, grey and taupe, complimented by the more earthy tones of khaki, rust and indigo.

The Autumn/Winter collection also features a range of new materials such as sheesham wood, a variety of coloured denim and some washed linens. The dark and elegant Indian wood is used throughout the occasional furniture range ensuring consistency and authenticity.

My favourites pieces from the collection are undoubtedly the modern rocking chair, the tripod floor light, and the low wooden table on wheels. Minimally designed but beautifully crafted, these gorgeous pieces offer a sense of wintry calm and tranquillity and make me want to curl up with a good book in front of a roaring fire. Maybe the thought of Winter soon returning isn’t actually that bad after all?

The Autumn Winter collection will be launched online from September and rolled out into five key French Connection stores throughout October 2012.
