As many of you have seen by now, I have a Design Sheppard Shop stocking some of my favourite products from the very best independent retailers & designers. This is something I have wanted to do for so long and I am having an absolute blast hunting down all the products I want to feature. Today I want to introduce you to a fantastic young designer whose latest collection, Industrious Living, is now available in my shop. Anthony Hughes is an independent surface designer offering British made interior textile products and accessories. I first featured Anthony here on the blog back in 2011 when I interviewed him after having discovered his work at New Designers. In 2013, Anthony launched his own homewares brand and presented his debut collection of digitally printed wallpapers, luxury cotton cushions and drum shade lighting.
This fantastic urban collection draws on Anthony’s love of Northern industrial landscapes and its characteristic structures and shapes. A short walk down the canal in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, inspired the collection which features elements from the vast engineering magnificence of the gasholder and the geometric shapes it creates, to the rippled reflections of gas pipelines across the canal. I love the edgy, urban and, dare I say it, slightly grimy feel of this collection. The colours work so well together and I particularly like the powerful punches of yellow.
So why don’t you pop on over to The Design Sheppard Shop and take a closer look. They really are great designs!
