As you all know, I do love a good trend post, so when I received a press release from John Lewis outlining their Autumn/Winter 2013 interior trends, I couldn’t wait to share them with you. There are actually six different trends they identified but I only want show you my three favourites here today as these are the ones I feel like I could most incorporate into my own home.
The first of the Autumn/Winter 2013 interior trends is called Modern Restoration and I think that this is my absolute favourite of all the trends. I am a huge fan of the industrial look and I have tried to create this look in my own living room to a certain extent. But the Modern Restoration trend is slightly different to the industrial trend that we have seen before. It has a slightly softer feel due to the delicate colour tones that have been used and it is inspired by the heritage and fresh attitude of vibrant East London.
The second trend I want to show you is called Urban Edge. Inspired by Le Corbusier’s iconic1952 Unité d’Habitation, John Lewis believes that this trend typifies modern urban living. This trend is all about smart storage and cutting edge design and you can create the look in your own home by using textured and polished furnishings, colour blocking and geometric shapes.
The final Autumn/Winter 2013 interior trend that I want to share with you is called New Contemporary and is inspired by the creativity of Scandinavian design. According to John Lewis the New Contemporary look shows how to transform everyday functional objects into beautiful tools for modern life. As is standard in Scandinavian design the look pairs expansive, bright and airy white spaces with plenty of natural materials, especially wood, for a serene and calm feel.
So those are my three favourite AW13 interior trends from John Lewis. What do you guys reckon? Which is your favourite? I’d love to hear your thoughts so do leave me a comment or tweet me!
Stunning images for the Modern Restoration look. Great textures and I love to juxtaposition of styles that go into this look. Interesting that JL are seen as trend leaders nowadays … didn’t it used to be Habitat?
Indeed tom, but John Lewis have come a long way recently. You may wish to check out their Design Collection as they now collaborate with some really top notch designers to enhance their collection.
Love the room with bright blue sheets and 4 x 6 photos on the wall.
Hi Frances, thanks for stopping by. That was one of my favourite room sets too. That blue is so striking!
You have to give it to John Lewis – they seriously know their interiors, I’m in love with the Modern Restoration, but then this has always been my style … plus their Bare Hare ad made me cry!! :)
That is my favourite trend too Lizzie. I love the industrial look too. :-)
Lovely use of Scandinavian design
Mee too Sophie, very clean and minimal yet still cosy! Perfect for A/W 2013!
