I don’t know about you guys but I spent the whole day yesterday sat in front of the telly watching the Royal Wedding on BBC World. As I am currently in Poland and the Poles weren’t lucky enough to be given a day off I ended up watching on my own, but I was kept company by all the fabulous British Tweeps I follow on Twitter who were just as excited about the event as I was.
One of the highlights of course was Kate’s dress. Whilst some were disappointed that she didn’t choose something more daring, I personally thought that the understated and elegant design by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen was perfect for such an occassion. I particularly loved the hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace that was used throughout the bodice and skirt and predict that lace will now feature more prominently, not only in wedding attire but in fashion in general.
As is usually the case, interiors often follow closely in the footsteps of catwalk trends so I doubt it will be long before we see lace making its mark in interior design on a greater scale. Already we are seeing products that would be very fitting for this trend.
With this stylish and creative new wallpaper collection MYB Textiles demonstrate how time-honoured classic design can be given a second lease of life. Just as Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity, this wallpaper creates an innovative fusion of new an old.
Under the guidance of the design team at Timorous Beasties, MYB have taken a classic 1920’s cotton lace fabric archive and reinvented it into two unique and stylised wallpapers.
Taken across six colours with three matching textured plains, the ‘Paper Lace’ collection is a first for MYB – a marriage of 100-year-old weaving tradition blended seamlessly into another romantic interior medium.
The original delicate lace fabric ‘Lydia’ and a modern interpretation ‘Linda’ compliment and complete the collection.
