NLXL is one of my favourite wallpaper suppliers and I’ve featured them a couple of times now. You can see those posts here. This has got to be one of my favourite wallpaper ranges yet though and I really am smitten. The Materials Wallpaper by Piet Hein Eek is just to die for. It features 10 contemporary designs that create a magnificant trompe l’oeil effect. Together the Dutch designer and the premium wallpaper manufacturer have created an amazing collection that features everyday materials such as plywood, brick, stone and marble. The white marble is probably my favourite as I am a big fan of the marble trend at the moment but the metallic marble paper is also really stunning. These papers would look fantastic in a residential or a commercial interior and although I haven’t seen them up close, they look pretty realistic from the images, don’t you think?
This new collection emphasizes our traditional way of working together with Piet Hein Eek. We have reproduced everyday materials, like stone, wood and marble. We are certain that this new collection will find its way to both consumers and projects all over the world.

A lot of companies have made marble reproduction products, but never in the way we envisioned it. So we decided to give it a try. When the printing proofs came in we had the exact same thrill as we had five years earlier with the Scrapwood Wallpaper. Marble wallpaper is available in several different tile sizes and colors. You just want to install it everywhere.
Piet Hein Eek
The imagery for the black and white marble wallpapers was scanned from the floor of an old building in Amsterdam. When they cut marble they cut slabs of stone, if you take two consecutive slabs and flip them you get a mirror image. So there’s one roll of marble wallpaper, another roll that’s the mirror image of it, and in marble they call this ‘bookmatch’. It becomes almost a kind of graphical illustration.

Any thoughts on this gorgeous collection? Do you love it as much as I do?
I’m a BIG fan of Piet Hein Eek, I particularly like Scrapwood and Brooklyn Tins but also love the brick and marble effect. The trompe l’oeil effect of these wallpapers is truely amazing, you have to touch it to see, and then convince yourself it’s not real!
Love the first one. Piet Hein Eek is so talented, the effects are so amazing, they really look real.
