I used to write quite often about wallpaper but in recent months I have realised that I haven’t done that many posts, which is odd considering how wallpaper is one of my major interior obsessions. In an attempt to remedy this, I have scoured the net and found some really great papers to share with you. And I think you will agree that this one I am posting today will bring a smile to your face. I can’t quite remember where I first discovered the amazing talents of Brooklyn-based illustrator and designer Katie Deedy, but I immediately fell in love with her fabulous wallpaper designs and the concept behind her company.
Grow House Grow‘s mission is to enliven living spaces through the marriage of pattern, narrative and a heavy dose of imagination. Hand silk screened with care on clay-coated paper, each of the designs are accompanied by a fantastic little story that serves as the foundation for the patterns that adorn the papers.
According to Katie: “It can be argued that a good story- and we all have one – inspires and gives meaning to the world around us. From personal histories and architectural details, to souvenirs and heirlooms we hold dear, it’s important to fill our living spaces with things that create an environment that is both personal and universal; just as a good story does. Each pattern Grow House Grow creates has a different tale to tell, and endeavors to spark the creativity, mystery, and comfort of stories in those around us.”
I love the delicate patterns and the muted colours of these papers too, I find them very calming and serene. What do you think? Would you use these papers in your home? And if so where exactly?
LOVE the first Grow House Grow Ms Treat in Heron – once my little ones stop vandalising my un-wallpapered walls, I will invest in something similar – I have an obsession with gorgeous wallpapers, and have witnessed the manufacturing process, which is fascinating…if you’re into that type of thing! Lots of really fab wallpaper is made in the UK, which is encouraging.
Me too! Wallpaper is the one thing I can’t get enough of and like you say there are so many gorgeous papers and designs out there.
What a stellar collection. I love Cottontails!
Aren’t they gorgeous?? I love them all!
