April is a pretty big month for anyone who is embarking on any home upgrade projects. The entire month of April is Home Improvement Month so it’s the perfect time to set yourself the challenge of updating at least one room in your home. We will finally be finishing off our kitchen makeover that we started last April. It was put on hold for various reasons but we are finally in a position to get that finished. Perfect timing too as it is also National Tile Week in April. Let me tell you more about it.
National Tile Week is an initiative that was launched last year and in 2017 it returns for its second year, celebrating the best of British design and manufacture. Supported by British Ceramic Tile, the week-long nationwide event will run from 10-17 April 2017 and is designed to educate consumers on how to creatively use tiles in the home and drive sales across retailers in the run up to the Easter weekend. The special celebratory week will examine the latest interior design trends, bust some myths about the complexity of tiles and provide practical tips to help make DIY projects easier.
National Tile Week will be launched by TV interior designer, Julia Kendell, best known for her work on DIY SOS and 60 Minute Makeover. Julia will shine a light on tiles as a surface covering and explain how best to use tiles in the home.
I’m a huge advocate of tiles as they are virtually indestructible and brilliantly practical in the home. Hygienic and easy to clean, they will take all the knocks that day–to-day life can throw at them, making them a superior surface material. National Tile Week is a great opportunity to focus on and celebrate tiles in all their colourful glory! It’s a great way to inspire creativity and illustrate the many ways they can be used around the home to create beautiful and unique interiors.

The National Tile Week celebrations will kick off at a pop up event in Covent Garden on Monday 10 April. Consumers are invited to visit the National Tile Week shop to discover more about how British design and manufacture are leading the way when it comes to interiors, and how best to use tiles creatively across walls and floors.
Visitors will receive advice and guidance, and Julia Kendell will be available throughout the afternoon for a Q&A. Further events are scheduled throughout the week at British Ceramic Tile’s London Hub in Clerkenwell on Wednesday 12 April and Ted Baker’s Commercial Street store on Thursday 13 April.
British Ceramic Tile is the perfect company to be supporting National Tile Week in my eyes. Some of the most creative uses of tiles that I have come across are from them and that is why I have chosen to use their tiles in my own home renovation projects. You may remember my small bathroom renovation from last spring. If not check it out here. We will be using their tiles again in our upcoming kitchen project and I can’t wait to see the results. I’ll be sharing them with you shortly after the project is complete. I can’t tell you how exciting this is. We’ve been living with no tiles in our kitchen now for what seems like forever. It will be amazing to finally have a tiled kitchen.
Disclosure: This post has been written in collaboration with British Ceramic Tile. However, all the opinions in this post are my own and I stress that I only collaborate with brands and companies that I genuinely like and believe that my readers will like too.
We have some lovely tiles in our toilet. We were going to carpet over them but we didn’t in the end as they were so gorgeous
Ooh kitchen tiles. I shall look forward to seeing those. If they’re from BCT I already know they’re going to be pretty awesome! Thanks for the intro to National Tile Week too. Had no idea!x

I’m a fan of the collections at British Ceramic Tile and I noticed the Ted Baker tiles there which we have in our shower room! Love them!! Can’t wait to see what you’ve chosen for your kitchen x
I love those hexagonal tiles. I saw them on Making Spaces and positively swooned. I’m working on a little tile project for BCT at the moment … the ranges they stock are absolutely amazing.
The first picture is amazing! Hope you will find great pieces there!
I’m really loving tiles at the moment – at that hexagonal kitchen splashback is lovely!
I love that dark grey kitchen with white tiles and copper pendants. Right up my street. Good luck with the kitchen plans btw. Can’t wait to see it. x
