I’ve been using Pinterest for as long as I can remember so I was pretty shocked to find out recently that it is only officially launching in the UK this month. Don’t get me wrong, I think a UK launch is well overdue and when I was asked to get involved with the campaign I jumped at the chance. Being a blogger, Pinterest is a tool that I rely on quite heavily and I can honestly say that I don’t know that many people who aren’t already using Pinterest. However, whilst it may be hard to believe, there are people out there in the UK who may not know about this inspiring, creative and quite simply addictive tool.
So what is Pinterest?
Pinterest is basically a series of digital pinboards that allow you to collect and curate all the things that you spot on line in one central place. There is no more bookmarking sites and hoping that you will remember where you saw that great image. Instead you simply pin it to one of your pin boards and when you need to find it again you will know exactly where to find it and where the original source was that you pinned it from. Recent updates also mean that products you pin now show information regarding pricing, availability, and where to buy them; recipe pins include cook time, ingredients, and servings; and movie pins now show content ratings, cast members, and more. Good hey?
Why do I love Pinterest?
I love Pinterest because it helps me to document my inspiration, and not only for my blog. Whilst most of my boards are related to interior design in one form or another, I also have boards that are completely unrelated to interiors or to my blog. I love the freedom that Pinterest provides and it enables me to expand my interests outside of interiors which is something I just don’t do here on my blog.
When I was planning my wedding, Pinterest was an invaluable tool and it really helped me to get a much clearer idea of the kind of day I wanted and it really helped me to focus all that inspiration into one clear vision. I also like to collect images of delicious recipes, products I love, and inspirational quotes. I know that by using Pinterest I will never lose track of those all important inspirational images and the links back to the original source.
What is also great about Pinterest is the fact that you don’t need to find everything you pin yourself. You can repin from the people that you follow. I happen to follow a lot of really great people on Pinterest who track down and pin some fabulous content and by repinning I get access to all their inspiration too!
My favourite board?
I was quite shocked to discover that I actually have 51 boards on the go and that is not including my secret boards (which I sadly can’t tell you about as that would defeat the point of them being secret right?). My favourite board though is probably my Wonderful Wallcoverings board where I collect pictures of my favourite wallpapers. If you read my blog regularly you will know that I love wallpaper to the point of obsession and this board is where I keep track of everything I have hunted down and featured on my blog.
Are you already pinning?
So whilst I find it hard to believe that there are people out there who aren’t already using Pinterest, I accept that this is probably the case. If you are one of those people who hasn’t yet signed up for an account, I strongly recommend that you come and join the community and you can get pinning by using this registration link.
Pin It Forward!
As part of the Pin it Forward campaign I now need to send you on your way to discovering more great people to follow on Pinterest, and also their blogs too! I am passing the baton to Michael Adams who writes a great blog called Michael 84 all about fashion, lifestyle and music. You can follow Michael on Pinterest so make you pop over and hit follow!
I would also like to do a shout out to Lianne of Ruby Ruby Slippers who passed the campaign on to me yesterday. You can also follow Lianne on Pinterest here!
So that’s it from me. Go forth and Pin!
I have only just discovered how useful it is. Wish I had known about it years ago….
It is an invaluable resource! But pretty addictive so take care!
Hey Stace! Love Pinterest and loved this entry too! I also notice that one of your pinned wallpapers is on the front cover of the latest Homemaker magazine – the lime and teal one with the radio, bottle and vase on the table!! It is scrummy!
See you soon! x
Thanks Wend! Love that wallpaper!!!
Thanks for participating in Pin It Forward, Stacey! I’m glad Pinterest has helped you document your inspirations whether that be interior design, delicious recipes and more! Your wonderful wallcoverings board is amazing- the geometric wallpaper is a great design! Lauren, Community Coordinotor
Thanks Lauren, it was a pleasure to take part!! Pinterest has really helped me not only with blogging but also gathering inspiration in general!
