Dreaming of a new kitchen is something I spend so much time doing. I hate my kitchen with a passion and doing it up is one of my top priorities this year. Whether or not we can afford to do that is another question. So until the time comes when we can, I shall be eyeing up the most gorgeous, dreamy kitchens that cross my path. The latest kitchen to make my heart skip a beat is the Sebastian Cox kitchen by deVOL.  It actually launched at Clerkenwell Design Week back in May 2015 and I’ve been meaning to feature it here ever since, but better late than never I guess. Anyway deVOL Kitchens collaborated with the talented designer and wood man, Sebastian Cox, who is well known for developing handmade furniture made from coppiced timber. The result is an understated classic design which features sawn and woven timbers and a little splash of copper, which is always a bonus in my book (I’m still totally obsessed with copper!!).

One of the greatest things about this kitchen range is that it focuses on utilising sustainable British timbers, which have all been grown here in England. The carcasses are made from Birch plywood, the doors are made from sustainable timbers such as Beech and Ash and the work top is a lovely solid piece of Oak.

I love how the kitchen is stained with a beautiful inky blue/black dye, which really allows you to see the texture of the wood and gives the kitchen a lovely tactile finish.

The whole kitchen is designed to look like it breathes. Together we’ve created something that feels clean, simple and light but is brimming with subtle texture to keep the choice of material front of mind. And as you’d expect from a piece of deVOL design, it is immaculately made with really charming details; the doors use very beautiful sliding dovetails that are visible on the inside.

The images above and in the gallery below are of the first Sebastian Cox kitchen by deVOL to be installed in a residential interior. The Clerkenwell Apartment is a property situated just off Exmouth Market, in Clerkenwell, London. The kitchen filled just one end of a lovely large and very light room, and features a simple run with cooker, sink, dishwasher and plenty of storage. The pantry cupboard sits to the side along with a Smeg fridge.

I’m a huge fan of industrial-style open spaces and I really adore the ‘urban rustic’ look of the range as deVOL founder Paul O’Leary describes it.

We are all really proud of this collaboration with Sebastian Cox, it’s been a really rewarding and exciting process and to finally see the finished article in someone’s home looking beautiful, practical and really special is such a great feeling for us all.

Oh how I would love a kitchen like this in my flat. Not likely though as prices start from £15,000, which is actually not bad for a hand made kitchen. But it’s way outside of my budget, so I’ll just pin it to my kitchen inspiration Pinterest board where I can swoon over it from afar.
