Timber Strips Wallpaper by Piet Hein Eek for NLXL

You’ve probably heard the names Piet Hein Eek and NLXL on this blog many times before, and so you should have because I wrote about them here and here. I’m basically obsessed with their work, so imagine how happy I am to get to write about another of their collaborations that launched at Dutch Design Week last month (Oct 2017). After the success of their last collaboration, NLXL and Piet Hein Eek have joined creative forces once more with a new range called the Timber Strips Collection, a back-to-basics approach using faux wood designs for wallpaper.

Seven years ago our first collection, Scrapwood Wallpaper, proved to be a game-changer in the industry. It set the standard for digital wallpaper collections and is probably the most imitated wallpaper design to date. Today we introduce its successor: Timber Strips Wallpaper. The next step in hyper realistic faux wood wallcovering.

Inspired by Piet Hein Eek’s travels to Japan, the Timber Strips Wallpaper collection, which went under the working title ‘Zen Wood’, is a throwback to the simplistic use of timber in oriental interiors. I love the muted wooden colours and the interesting angles incorporated into the designs that make this range so versatile yet so stylish – and again without the need to panel your walls with anything other than high quality wallpaper to give it the desired effect. It’s so realistic that it makes you want to touch it just to make sure it is actually just wallpaper. The images below show you just how amazingly adaptable this range is to any environment, and I for one am conjuring images of this paper all through my house.
