There is nothing I love more than a good old tea party. A quintessentially British affair, the tea party is a great way to catch up with friends and family whilst having a good old natter over a nice cup of tea and indulging in some delicious baked goods.

But how much more exciting would afternoon tea be if it was served up in a tea set like this? Designed by Tina Tsang of Undergrowth Design, Blaue Blume, is a whimsical and enchanting tea service that was first launched at Designersblock during the London Design Festival in September 2007. Following the success of the teacup and saucer that Tsang presented at the show, she decided to extend the range and produced a full tea set.

Tsang graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2005 and since then she has experimented with new materials and techniques in her work as can be seen in the way that she creates products with great tactility and three-dimensional effect.

In the Blaue Blume  collection she has applied vintage lace to the ceramics which gives them an amazing visual and tactile appeal. But I love the way that cheeky stiletto-clad legs are used as handles for teacups and tea post and are seen poking out from sugar bowls and ice cream bowls.

These whimsical ceramics would be the perfect addition to a Mad Hatter-style tea party.
