Have you noticed the chill in the air over the past few days? I know we’ve had an unusually warm September here in the UK but now that October is here I feel like autumn is slowly creeping up on us. I’ve found myself sleeping in a T-shirt and leggings for a few nights now because my thin summer duvet just isn’t quite warm enough. I haven’t wanted to admit that summer is over just yet so I’ve refrained from getting the big fluffy winter duvet down from the loft, but I think I have to just face facts and start preparing my home for the colder winter months.
I don’t know about you guys, but in winter I am much more conscious of my sleeping environment, and more so the older I get. In fact, since becoming a mum it’s safe to say that I’ve even become a little bit obsessed with beds and sleeping, probably because I get so little sleep these days and an uninterrupted night is something that I dream of!

For about two years now, I have been really focused on mattresses and how important they are for promoting good sleep. I’ve written about mattresses here a number of times now and I can’t quite believe that there was a time (back in my youth) when I didn’t realise just how important a good mattress is to our overall well-being and health. But now that I’m fully clued up on mattresses, how they are made, what they are made of, how often we should change them and how to keep them clean, I’m starting to turn my attention more to the bed itself.
A proper grown-up, sophisticated, well-made bed is one thing I’ve never really had. It’s always been an afterthought, something I didn’t want to spend too much money on, and as time has gone on, I’ve started to regret buying the cheap, poor quality, self-assembly beds that have always let me down. I’ve probably spent as much money on these cheap beds as I would have done if I’d saved up and invested in a really good bed. So that’s my plan. The next bed I buy is going to be good quality, well made and built to last. I owe it to myself!

I’ve actually been looking at the fantastic bed selection from Button & Sprung. Primarily a mattress company, Button & Sprung also makes the most beautiful upholstered beds. Hand-made in solid beech, there are 14 different styles ranging from the traditional and romantic to city chic. It is fairly easy to find your perfect bed.
First, you select the size that you require and then you decide whether you want a bed frame or a divan, next you select one of 14 different headboards, then select your fabric from over 80 choices and finally select the colour and style of feet you want your bed to have. Oh, and there are also various storage options to choose from, such as ottoman style, integrated drawers or the addition of a blanket box.

If after all this you can’t find what you’re looking for, Button & Sprung also offer bespoke options such as extra long beds for particularly tall people (with a mattress made to fit of course) or having your bed upholstered in a particular designer fabric or even your own fabric.

Once you’ve made all those decisions and designed your perfect bed, it is hand-crafted by experts here in the UK and delivered within 4-6 weeks by Button & Sprung’s own delivery team. You then have 100 nights to test out your new bed in the comfort of your own home and if you’re not completely happy they will collect it free of charge and replace it with a more suitable option or provide a full refund (including any delivery fees you may have paid). This is particularly useful if, like me, you don’t live anywhere near the London showroom and are therefore unable to pop in and try out the beds in person.

If you’re happy with your choice, you can sleep (extremely well) in the knowledge that your new hand-crafted bed is guaranteed for 10 years. The guarantee covers all the important bits to do with your mattress or bed – the materials, construction and workmanship. The only things you’re not covered for are rips or wear and tear to the upholstery or damage from unusual use (I’ll leave that to your imagination). If you do have a problem with your bed or your mattress Button & Sprung will arrange a repair or a like-for-like exchange.

So the hardest part is deciding which style and fabric to go for. Personally, I’m quite taken with the Eliza frame (first image right up at the top) because I like the soft curves and rather charming silhouette, but I’m also rather fond of the Willow frame as I love the plush pillow headboard. It looks so luxuriously cosy, don’t you think?
And due to the fact that we always need more storage space in our flat, I think I’d be more than tempted to opt for the ottoman version so that I could store all our bedlinen underneath and free up the cupboard where it is currently stored. I’m not sure what fabric I’d choose though as there are so many, but you can order free fabric samples to help you choose.

The hanging frames are looking beautiful. I would suggest, you add a table lamp to enlight the glow of your room.
Beautiful Beds. When I am redoing my interiors I sure as hell won’t miss this blog. Thank You for sharing such amazing stuff Stacey
Ghosh! Such beautiful beds!
I’m very tempted to get a lift up bed for my spare room – I can just see all my shoes being stashed in there. Heaven
They make beautiful beds don’t they! I love the background and ethos of this company too
Gaaaah they’re all SO beautiful! We are in desperate need of a new bed. We’ve moved our ottoman bed about 4 times now and with each move it’s become less sturdy. I’m scared it will just fall apart one night whilst we sleep! Will definitely need to check out Button & Sprung. Particularly love that deep blue version. Stunning!
I love their beds so much. I’m just eyeing up one (three) now for a project!
I particularly like the Lily one! Great post :)
