Earlier this week, I headed off to East Portlemouth on a special assignment in my new role as brand ambassador for Ramsign, who I will be working with over the next year.
Ramsign is a Danish company based in Copenhagen. It was founded by Nick Brandt back in 1991 with the vision of resurrecting the once dying art form of producing hand stencilled enamel signs for homes and businesses. The company is already well-established in Scandinavia and in the US, and I think it has a lot of potential on the UK market too.
Their timeless, classic designs are steeped in tradition and made to exceptionally high standards by a skilled team of artisans who champion craftsmanship and creativity.
They approached me earlier this year to see if I would like to work with them to share their story and introduce their brand to you guys. As you know, I love a good back story, especially when it includes tradition and products being made by hand.
So for this first introductory post, I’ve worked with a lovely local photographer I’ve met recently and hope to work with more in the future. Tessa runs Headcake and is also a visual strategist and helps entrepreneurs and independent businesses tell their brand story. She seemed like the perfect person to team up with for this project so that I could help tell you all about Ramsign.
Tessa’s local knowledge proved invaluable when she suggested we head to Meadow Barn Farm in East Portlemouth as the location for this photo shoot. Meadow Barn is a free-range farm that offers off-grid stays and experiences. They have a beautifully refurbished cottage called The Old Cow Shed that they offer as a holiday let, as well as a traditional English shepherd’s hut and a small boat.
Liz and John, the owners of Meadow Barn Farm, kindly let use their farm to take our photos. We wanted to show how the beautiful enamel house signs can be used and try to provide some inspiration other than just putting a sign up next to your front door.
There are a variety of signs available from house numbers, address plaques, and name plates. You can even add icons to your sign such as a Fleur-de-lys, a pig, a pointing hand, a variety of arrows or dividers and more.
The enamel house signs are perfect for residential properties but can also be used for businesses who may need to communicate their opening hours, rules, messages or even directions. They are a great addition for holiday homes too that need clear signage for the property so that guests know that they are in the right place.
And of course you can be as creative as you like with the enamel house signs. Whilst they are designed to be screwed to the wall, they can also be used in more unconventional ways. You could try making a feature of them by attaching an enamel house sign to some driftwood or a wagon wheel. You could suspend them from a wooden ladder or attach them to a flower pot.
They can also be used on dog houses or chicken coups, on garden play houses, on fences or gates, on sheds or summer houses.
These enamel house signs are a great investment as well. If looked after properly they can last up to 100 years.
We really enjoyed experimenting with these signs and seeing how they can add character and class to your home or business. I’d love to know what you think about Ramsign signs so drop us a comment below.
Oh these shots came out so beautifully – I love how many creative ideas you’ve come up with here! I might need to get one for our outside shed and the old outhouse we have too :) xx
