Myconian Kyma Hotel in Mykonos Greece - Design Hotel

I haven’t been away on holiday since April 2017 so I am well overdue a break. Luckily we have now booked a trip for the end of August so I’m counting down the days until our family can get away for a much needed holiday. In the meantime, I thought it was time to share another amazing design hotel that I know you guys will be queuing up to stay in. This one is the Myconian Kyma Hotel in Mykonos Greece and it’s a real stunner.

Kyma, which is the Greek word for ‘wave’, is a 5-star luxury hotel situated high above Mykonos town with world-famous views of the Aegean Sea, the windmills and Little Venice. The hotel has 52 rooms and 29 suites and all guestrooms feature a king-size bed or twin beds and impressive sea views (apart from the Apollon Room, which faces inland). The 26-square-meter Aegean Junior Suite, the Nissos Junior Suite, and the 35-square-meter Sunset Junior Suite all boast an outdoor Jacuzzi, which sounds divine. The 26-square-meter Horizon Suite has a private pool and the Mediterranean Junior Suite has its own private infinity pool.

Kyma was designed by internationally renowned architect Galal Mahmoud who has created a stunning collection of white-washed double-storey structures in Cycladic forms. The buildings form serene retreat-like spaces and are interspersed with the pool deck, sun-dappled terraces, an outdoor lounge, art-filled spaces, lush gardens and panoramic views.

Kyma is the perfect venue for a luxurious and secluded retreat where guests can bask in tranquility and wellness. The rooms are designed with every comfort in mind and the hotel’s Satori Thalasso spa offers numerous facial and body treatments. It also has five pools offering different therapeutic salinity contents.

Whilst the design hotel is perfect a quiet, relaxing retreat, it’s only a short seven minute stroll from the heart of the island’s thriving nightlife for those who are looking for a little bit of action too.  The hotel offers personalized guiding assistance offering advice on ways you can enjoy a day of city, island, or beach tours; horseback riding; yachting; and much more.

If you prefer to stay in the hotel, the bar has a good reputation and the food served in the Kalypso Restaurant is of a good standard.

I love the design of the hotel. The traditional structure has been outfitted with sleek yet subtle furnishings that impart a 1960s flavor. The space is awash with marble, wood, glass, and natural materials, which give it a truly sophisticated feel.

The bright white is contrasted with bold pink or teal-blue furnishings that give the property a really vibrant spirit.
