Currently Coveting: The Maytag Drying Cabinet

One of the things that annoys me most about the fact that houses in the UK are getting increasingly smaller, particularly if you are renting, is the lack of utility space. It is the one thing that has been missing in practically all the properties I have rented since I left my parents house. The house I am living in now admittedly does have an airing cupboard but it houses an enormous boiler, which doesn’t leave much space for any airing. I’m not complaining, it’s better than nothing and at least I now have a dedicated space to house my bed linen and towels.

As much as I hate doing laundry, I can’t help but hanker after a laundry room and I’m convinced that if only I had a room dedicated to the laborious task of laundering clothes I might actually enjoy the tedious task. After all, everything would be organised and tidy and I would have somewhere to sort everything and store everything.

The thing that annoys me perhaps more than anything at my house is having wet washing hanging on airers in my livingroom. I don’t have a tumble dryer so unfortunately it takes quite some time for my washing to dry, which means my lounge is filled with damp clothes for at least a day, if not two. This is highly impractical, not to mention annoying and even embarrassing should we have any unannounced visitors dropping by.

What I would really like to have is one of these drying cabinets from Maytag. Then I could hang all my washing neatly inside this cupboard out of sight and out of my livingroom. With up to 16m of clothesline inside the cupboard, the Maytag drying cabinet is ideal for drying clothes, shoes and coats. What I wouldn’t give to own one of these! Laundry time would never be the same again!
