Dualit Architect Panel Pack by Charlene Mullen

Dualit Architect Kettle Toaster featuring Charlene Mullen panels

You may remember a few weeks ago when I posted a lust list of designer kitchen items that Ruth and I have been coveting for a while now. On that list was the Dualit Architect Toaster and Kettle featuring a specially designed panel pack by Bluebellgray. I think the Architect range is just so clever and I really love the flexibility and customisation options that it offers. Once you have bought the kettle and toaster you can invest in a range of interchangeable colour panels, so if you decide to update your kitchen or just fancy a change, your toaster and kettle can change with you. Genius right? Although I think if I owned it I would get a little bit obsessed with buying panel packs. I loved the Bluebellgray one and now I have fallen for the Dualit Architect Panel Pack by Charlene Mullen.

Charlene Mullen, whose studio launched in September 2008 at 100% Design, has trained in both illustration and print enabling her to establish a successful career in the fashion industry. However, she has now turned her talents to designing luxury homewares and creates unique embroidered textiles such as cushions, throws and lampshades as well as ceramics. For her latest collaboration however, she has teamed up with iconic British brand Dualit who have added Charlene’s well loved illustrations of the London skyline to their Architect Panel Pack.

The new panel pack design is based on elements from Charlene’s existing London collection, creating a striking new skyline featuring iconic points of interest such as Tower Bridge, the London Eye and the River Thames. Charlene’s signature red detailing is picked out on the St. George’s flag, as well as a cheeky fox resting on the Dualit logo. I love all the intricate details that you can see in this design and it is oibvious that this particular panel pack will be a big hit with design and architecture lovers. What do you think?

I grew up with a Dualit toaster in our kitchen, so when I was invited to work with the iconic British brand it seemed a perfect match thanks to its timeless design and great quality. It’s been a fun project to work on, going back to the drawing board to adapt my designs to the perimeter of the Architect template. The printing process introduced new challenges to ensure it was a suitable design for the enamel, as well as incorporating the Dualit logo within the layout. I’m really excited about the finished product and can see it being popular with design aficionados as well as London lovers!
