This lockdown has a lot to answer for. Not only has it changed our daily lives beyond recognition, but it has also led to many of our favourite events to be postponed indefinitely or cancelled. In the interiors industry, Salone del Mobile is, of course, the pinnacle of the design calendar. When the outbreak first occurred, it was postponed until June, but as the situation worsened it became clear that such a mass gathering could not take place this year.
And so, the 60th edition of the World’s largest furniture fair will now take place in April 2021. Every year, the fair welcomes over 370,000 professional visitors from 188 countries all looking to discover the latest products on show from more than 2,300 of the most dynamic and creative companies on the global market.
Many companies use Milan as a springboard to launch their latest product collections so this year’s cancellation will have had a huge impact on the 2020 marketing activities of many design brands. But new product lines are still launched, we may just need to look harder to find them.
Duravit Happy D.2 Plus C-Shaped
I’ll be sharing any notable launches that I come across, starting today with the latest offering from luxury bathroom brand Duravit. As an extension of the Happy D.2 Plus series by sieger design, Duravit has released their new patent-pending c-shaped technology.
Evolution
Duravit Happy D.2 Plus c-shaped is an evolution of the patented c-bonded technology that enables the practically seamless connection of rounded ceramics with matching bathroom furniture.
C-shaped guarantees that the ceramic washbasin and furniture run in perfectly parallel lines with no overhang or recess and a precise gap of 4 mm. It is made entirely of DuraCeram® and has been specially finished so that it has all the benefits of a ceramic glaze, making it robust and easy to clean.
New Variations
Duravit Happy D.2 Plus c-shaped is available in two variations, both of which come in a lighter and a darker mood. Choose from a ceramic, glossy white outer edge in combination with a vanity unit or metal console in chrome or a new, rounded outer edge in the same colour as the vanity unit or to match the metal console in Black Matt.
Added Storage
The optional floor-standing, height-adjustable metal consoles with integrated towel rail can be expanded to include a shelf, a drawer and a seat unit on either the left or right. The seat unit has an integrated drawer that can be added as a practical extension of the console and used for additional storage. Duravit also offers a cushion in matching greige made from a woven fabric suitable for wet rooms.
Wall-mounted vanity units with two drawers provide further storage space. The vanity units for the c-shaped ceramics come in a choice of 11 Happy D.2 Plus furniture surfaces from luxury wood to matt surfaces in light or dark
Consistent Design
Happy D.2 Plus c-shaped can be combined with all elements from the Happy D.2 and Happy D.2 Plus series, ensuring a consistent design. Happy D.2 Plus includes toilets and bidets in Anthracite as well as bathtubs with seamless panelling in Graphite Supermatt. This allows for perfect harmony with the black metal console and dark furniture surfaces.
I fell in love with the Happy D.2 Plus range the moment I saw it in the Duravit Showroom when I visited for Clerkenwell Design Week. I think it was the black bathtub that really caught my eye as I’d never seen a bathtub that was quite so striking in it’s simplicity before. The C-Shaped technology takes this collection to a whole new level.
Whilst Happy D.2 Plus c-shaped makes an impressive style statement, it is an understated one. This makes it the perfect choice for bathrooms of all styles. Bathrooms are increasingly becoming holistic living spaces and Happy D.2 Plus is the perfect addition to this kind of space.
Being forced to spend so much time inside as this pandemic plays out has served to heighten the realisation that our homes really do need to be our sanctuaries. Sure, we’ve heard this so many times before, but as we’ve always had the choice where and how we spend our time, it never really sunk in, for me at least.
I think now, more than ever, people are coming to the conclusion that investing in our homes and creating a holistic space where every room serves its highest purpose is not only desirable but necessary.
Do you agree with this? Have you realised over the past few weeks just how important it is to create a mindful home that truly meets your needs? And what do you think of the Duravit Happy D.2 Plus c-shaped range? Do you prefer the dark version or the light version? Let me know in the comments below.
Oh my, bathrooms that dreams are made of, and totally agree, now more than ever our spaces have to reflect our personalities and work for us in a way they haven’t had to before.
They all look beautiful & spacious. You have a lovely collection.
I wish my bathroom was this big!
