As you all know, this past year since becoming a mother I have really discovered the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. And as the long dark evenings draw in, my thoughts start to turn to early nights, snuggled up in bed with a cup of hot cocoa and lazy Sunday morning lie-ins. Not quite realistic for me at the moment but maybe in a few years time right? So for now I’ll just dream and imagine myself enjoying this cosy, snuggly time in a ridiculously sumptuous and luxurious bed that is way out of my budget. Well I did say I would dream and dreams are meant to be aspirational aren’t they? Luckily, the Swedish bed manufacturer Hästens has recently launched a limited edition version of its iconic blue and white checked bed, which will fill this role nicely.
Inspired by the iconic colour ‘Stockholmsvit’, established in Sweden during the 1950’s, the 2014 limited edition Stockholmsvit bed from Hästens is a tribute to Swedish heritage. Whilst the colour may have been updated, all the usual handcraftmanship still applies and only the best renewable resources and natural materials are used in the making of the Stockholmsvit bed. Each bed is bespoke and takes around 160 hours to make. This edition is only available through to 31st December 2014 though so if your budget can stretch to such a luxurious bed you best be quick to ensure you bag yourself one.
If you are interested in learning more about the importance of getting a good night’s sleep you can read a post I wrote about Hästens for World Sleep Day 2013. Or if you would like to know more about how these beds are made, (it is an interesting story) there is a great little video you can watch below. One question I had after watching this video is where they get all that horse hair from, I mean that is a lot of hair! If I find out I’ll let you all know.
I tried this bed out when I visited the Hastens showroom in London last month. It is incredibly luxurious… definitely my dream bed!
I wish I had a hastens bed. They are soooo good! Love the photos, very stylish.
