The Transformational Power of Colour with Karen Haller

I was sent two copies of Karen's book to give away.

Stacey Sheppard and Karen Haller discuss the transformational power of colour and talk about her new book The little Book of Colour

Today we are going to be talking about the power of colour and I am so excited to share this with you all. I’ve known the amazingly talented applied colour psychologist Karen Haller since 2011 and we’ve worked on a number of blog posts together over the years and I’ve also interviewed her a few times for other publications. The colour psychology blog posts we’ve done together top my most popular list year after year and they also get the most comments and feedback from readers.

You can read the posts here:

When I heard that Karen was bringing out a book I was super excited for her, and of course for everyone who gets to read the book too. Karen is so knowledgeable when it comes to the power of colour and how to use in it your home, work, business and even in your wardrobe. Because of this, I expected the book to be quite academic and maybe a little inaccessible, but when I received my copy I found this wasn’t the case at all.

The Little Book of Colour by Karen Haller explores how we can use the transformational power of colour to transform our lives.

I read the book cover to cover in one afternoon and I learnt so much about the power of colour. It is full of handy takeaway tips that are super easy to digest and implement in your own life. There is a handy quiz you can take to work out which colours fit your personality type. And Karen also breakdowns the properties of all the colours for you and how they are likely to make you feel.

I honestly can’t recommend this book enough. If you are scared of using colour or simply don’t know how, this book will take away the fear factor and give you a sound basis for starting your colour journey. If you’re a seasoned colour lover but don’t know much about the psychology behind it, this book is full of colour theory and history that will take your understanding to a deeper level.

I didn’t just want to do a simple book review of The Little Book of Colour. Having worked with Karen many times over the past few years and knowing how passionate she is about the power of colour, I wanted to share this book with you in a way that really brings that to life.

So we hired a beautiful little studio in Bristol, Studio Cotton, (not Cotton Studio as I say in the video…sorry Amy!) and we did a video interview. It’s the first time I’ve ever made a video like this so I still have lots to learn, but I wanted you to hear from Karen directly.

Because we’re both quite chatty people, and the subject matter is so interesting, the full interview is an hour and a half. It covers more than just interiors and dips into the world of fashion too. So if you’re a bit of a geek like me, and want to learn as much as possible about the power of colour, I’d recommend watching the full version. If you don’t have an hour and a half to spare, I’ve created a shorter 30-minute version, that doesn’t go so in-depth. So take your pick! I’ve included them both below.
