So you may have noticed my distinct absence from both the blogosphere and the Twittersphere over the past three weeks or so. Whilst I’m usually pretty good at updating my blog regularly there are times when things take over and I don’t always have time to focus on the blog. The last few weeks I have been busy working on an exciting new project, which has taken up most of my time. “What is this exciting new project?” I hear you ask.
Well a few weeks ago I was asked if I would be interested in editing a cook book for a Swiss company that manufactures kitchen appliances. This may seem a bit weird as you all know me as a design writer, but I also write a fair bit about food. I am a regular contributor to a magazine called Taste Buds. So this, plus the fact that I write for a kitchen and bathroom magazine is how I got the job.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to be invited out to Switzerland so that I could meet the team working on the book. So I spent a week in a city called Zug and to my delight I got to stay in a lovely design hotel called City Garden.
V-ZUG is the name of the company I have been working for and it is a family owned manufacturer of high-end, state-of-the-art household appliances. The company started exporting to Asia in 2009 and in February of this year the brand was launched in Singapore.
All those lucky people out in Asia-Pacific who buy a V-ZUG oven will now receive a great new cook book full of recipes created by renowned Swiss Chef Stefan Beer who is the Executive Sous Chef at Tables restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok.
And it was my job to do all the copy editing for the book. I had great fun in Switzerland and met some really great people. Luckily it wasn’t all work and I got to go out and see the city of an evening and I ate in some amazing restaurants, all of which had fantastic views of lakes or mountain sides.
So that explains why I have been a bit quiet lately. Lots of work to do. But I’m back now so you can look forward to regular blog posts once again.
Nice blog – feela tad homesick now – all sounds very exciting and well done you!
Hi Francoise,
Yes it has been very exciting! I had never been to Switzerland before and I must say I was so impressed! What a lovely country and what amazing cuisine!
Looks like you had a great time Stacey! Good luck with a book!
