I have found my new favourite trend and I have to say I’m a little bit in love. Just look at all that cosy texture and those natural materials. Texture is going to be huge this season, just watch! We’re going to see lots of playful tactile textiles with a global influence.
Look out for fringing, tassels, tufting, feathers and raw edges on cushions, throws, rugs and accessories. And macrame is going from strength to strength making an appearance in high street collections across the UK. It started out as humble plant hangers but it’s making it’s presence known in a bolder way as exquisite statement wall hangings.
The Global Nomad trend features mostly a monochrome colour scheme but I’ve also seen it in other muted colour palettes like dusky pinks and terrocottas. It works equally well in both colour schemes. When it comes to pattern there is a clear leaning towards tribal and exotic patterns. I’m getting some serious wanderlust here!
Texture will also take centre stage when it comes to furniture which has a real handmade feel to it. Natural materials like rattan, wicker, jute and bamboo are no longer relegated to the conservatory, bring them into the living room this season.
I’ve called this trend ‘Global Nomad’ but I’ve also heard it referred to as ‘Bohemian Traveller’ or ‘Artisan Textures’. Whatever we decide to call it, this is going to be a huge trend this year. I’m desperate to invest in some of those gorgeous cushions for my living room and maybe a lovely pendant light shade as well. This trend will work seriously well with the scheme I already have going on and for me this is a trend that won’t fall out of favour within a season. For me this has serious longevity.

Really like a simple style like this. I enjoy seeing more and more poofs being styled in the living room area.
Yes, I completely agree with you. I also love this trend and I think this one is here to stay for a bit longer. Unfortunately I can never stay faithful to one style so my house has a mixture of all thrown in there. 😂😂
This trend is so up my street!! I NEED that belly basket!
So many nice products here especially that basket!
Absolutely love this trend – perfect for the rustic-loving traveller!
Definitely. Although even people who don’t travel could get on board with this I suspect!
One picture, a thousand words, including: comfortable, comforting, cosy, stylish, relaxed, trendy, light, and I could go on. This room (well the high ceilings and bay windows help, let’s not deny it!) feels modern yet the trend has been around for hmmm… centuries? haha! Maisons du Monde are a great brand.
I love Maisons du Monde. I always see so many great things on that site that I want. And now they are opening actual stores up North. How exciting!
It’s a really interesting trend – I love the mix of interesting patterns and textures, and muted colours. A great selection of products here too!
Thanks Abi. It’s so easy to recreate this look as there are so many great products on the market at the moment.
We love a fringe, a tassel and a whole lot of raw texture! And wow…those faux wall mounted skulls are pretty amazing too!
I’d love one of those faux skulls but my husband says they will be too scary for the kids lol.
Wow the room looks absolutely gorgeous!! Personally I love more colour in my own home, but I can definitely see this in my friend’s house who would love this.. I absolutely love the Faux Wall Mounted Skulls from Audenza!!
You can introduce more colour with this trend. There are also lots of products in terracotta, dark green or mustard that work equally well. I was just drawn to the monochrome version myself.
This is my favourite trend too! I love everything about it.. the textures, the monochrome, the warmth and natural feel about it…. brb while I buy everything on this page!
Tell me about it. All of this would work so well in my living room. I’m using all of my self restraint not to impulse buy the lot!
I love this trend! There are so many beautiful textures involved! How could I resist!
I can’t resist so I’m in the same boat!
When I saw the main image everything stopped for about 10 seconds. I love It!
Isn’t it just gorgeous? I want to move in!
I am so excited by this trend, love it all!! All the different textures are amazing and I love the bohemian / tribal patterns. Feeling the need to go shopping now!!
Me too! But we’re in luck as almost all the high street stores have jumped on the band wagon so we can give our homes a Global Nomad refresh without breaking the bank!
